FACE OF FASHION (FOF) 2007
RE: SOMERSET MALL FACE OF FASHION PRESENTED BY EX MR AND MISS SOUTH AFRICA, Nick Volsteedt and Vanessa Carreira
The the first Face of Fashion for 2007 kicked off at Somerset Mall at 2pm, presented by the power duo, ex Mr and Miss South Africa, Nick Volsteedt and Vanessa Carreira. With ten finalists competing for the title of Face of Fashion 2007 at Somerset Mall and a performance by Rory Eliot, previously known from Plush, the show provided shoppers at the Mall with an exhilarating showcase of fashion and accessory tenants.
The winner, Nicole Langtry, an 18 year old from Somerset West who frequents the mall, was chosen from a strong group of media judges, including Cape Argus, Radio Helderberg, Daily Voice, Topco Models and the Somerset Mall itself. Topco Model Agency, the sponsor agency for Face of Fashion nationwide, was on hand with scouts to select possible entries for their books. Nicole, winner of Face of Fashion at Somerset West received a list of prizes from the centre’s generous fashion and accessory tenants as well as a slick new Motorola phone, courtesy of Cell C. She will also be included in the centre¹s marketing campaign and be used in promotional Face of fashion activities.
The Face of Fashion (FOF) chain of fashion competitions are held at regional malls throughout 2007 from March to October 07. The FOF competition has been held since 2004 at shopping centres including Carlton, Rosebank @ the Zone, Gateway (casting only in 2005), V&A waterfront, Eastgate and Northgate.
Entrants, if aged between 18-24 are also given a preferential interview to Miss SA when they win locally and nationally.
The Face of fashion competition, first held at Eastgate in 2004, is a unique mix of a talent and model search. It seeks an individual that is comfortable with herself, communicative, can model but also cast for various opportunities within the entertainment industry whether as actress, presenter or MC.
The competition allows any girl to enter (that suits the age, height requirements), even if she has no modelling experience and through the show, gain valuable experience at the hands of well-known choreographers. If the winner is over 18, she will be entered into the Miss SA competition.
FOF also teaches entrants poise, attitude and communication skills. Through the competition, the girls perform alongside celebrity MCs or musicians.
They are learnt interview skills, and discipline on the ramp as well as being part of a choreographed show.
